Fertility Preservation

Trans and Non-Binary Egg Freezing

Egg freezing allows you to preserve your fertility, whether you’re considering gender-affirming treatment or choosing to plan ahead. It offers flexibility, reassurance and greater control over your future path to parenthood.

What is Trans and Non-Binary Egg Freezing?

Egg freezing (oocyte vitrification) lets you preserve your eggs for future use, before starting testosterone, after pausing it, prior to gender-affirming surgery or whenever it feels right for you.

Egg freezing can help keep your future family-building options open for trans and non-binary patients. It provides flexibility, whether you already know you want a biological child or simply want to preserve the choice.

Our care is tailored and inclusive. Scans, procedures, communication and emotional support are all adapted to meet your needs, so you can feel safe and supported throughout the process.

How Egg Freezing Works

The egg freezing process is straightforward, supportive and guided by specialists experienced in trans and non-binary care every step of the way.

You’ll start with tests and consultations to understand your fertility:

  • AMH blood test to check ovarian reserve
  • Other routine blood tests as recommended by your specialist
  • Pelvic ultrasound (transvaginal or transabdominal, depending on your comfort)
  • Consultation with a fertility specialist who understands trans and non-binary needs

If you’re taking testosterone, you may need to pause it briefly to allow your ovaries to respond. You’ll also have:

  • A nurse consultation
  • Routine screening tests
  • A personalised cycle plan
  • A dedicated treatment coordinator
  • Optional specialist counselling

Self-injected medication helps your ovaries produce multiple eggs. You’ll attend approximately 2–3 scans to monitor progress, with care tailored to your comfort and needs.

A short, 30-minute procedure under sedation. Supportive positioning and trauma-informed care help you feel safe and comfortable throughout. Your clinician will discuss the best option for you during your consultation.

Your eggs are rapidly frozen and securely stored until you’re ready to use them to create embryos.
