Many patients assume that frozen embryo transfer is only beneficial for those with lots of embryos to store.
For patients with fewer than three embryos, outcomes with frozen transfers were equal to or better than fresh, particularly when transferring a day 5 blastocyst. Even when embryo grading was suboptimal, frozen transfers showed a measurable advantage in some groups.
So, producing a smaller number of embryos doesn’t rule out the benefits of a frozen transfer — and in certain cases, it may offer a better chance of success.
