Your Egg Freezing Journey: Step by Step

Travelling abroad for egg freezing can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to guide you personally, every step of the way. Your journey usually takes around 3 weeks, depending on your personalised plan.

Looking Ahead

After your procedure, your eggs are safely stored but your journey doesn’t stop there. We’re always here to answer questions, provide guidance and support you as you plan for your future.

Step 1

Start from the comfort of your home with a remote appointment with one of our Fertility Specialists. We’ll review your medical history, goals and your test results and we can provide language support if needed. You’ll also receive guidance on arranging local tests, such as an AMH blood test, a pelvic ultrasound scan and other routine tests. This step helps you feel fully prepared and informed.

Step 2

Your specialist, together with your dedicated Treatment Coordinator, will create a treatment plan tailored to you. The nursing team will guide you through consent forms and advise when monitoring scans and pre-treatment screening tests are required. Patients are responsible for arranging these tests and scans themselves at accredited local laboratories or clinics. All results should be provided in English to ensure your specialist can review them.

Step 3

Your stimulation medication phase usually lasts around 10–12 days, and we offer flexible treatment pathways to support both UK and international patients.

  • Medication delivered to our London clinic: Travel to the UK to start treatment and stay for approximately 3 weeks.
  • Private prescription at home: Begin treatment in your home country using local scans, which are shared with our clinical team. Please note that our prescriptions cannot be used abroad; you will need a local physician or pharmacy in your country to prescribe the medications required.

Throughout this stage, our team provides clear instructions, reminders and support so you always know what to do and feel comfortable taking your medications.

Step 4

You’ll have several scans to track your progress, either locally or at London Women’s Clinic. Our team will explain each step and answer any questions, ensuring you always feel informed and supported. Your final monitoring scan will take place at our London clinic before egg collection.

Step 5

Your egg retrieval is a day procedure in one of our egg collection theatres, followed by 72 hours of recommended rest. Our caring, highly experienced team will prioritise your comfort and wellbeing throughout the process. We advise avoiding short haul air travel for at least 3 days and long haul travel for at least 7 days.
