Fertility Preservation
Take charge of your fertility - on your terms. Elective egg freezing helps you preserve your eggs today, so you have more options for tomorrow.
Egg Freezing is a proactive way to preserve your fertility by collecting and storing your eggs for future use. It can help you plan on your own timeline.
Egg freezing is typically grouped into two types depending on the reason for preserving fertility: elective and medical.
Elective egg freezing is for those who want to add flexibility to their fertility journey. It can be a helpful option if you’re focusing on your career, haven’t found the right partner, navigating gender identity or want more time before starting a family.
This process can help you feel more in control of your reproductive journey, giving reassurance that your options are preserved.
In addition to elective egg freezing, there is medical egg freezing. This is for people who need to preserve their fertility due to a medical condition or treatment that can risk their future fertility, such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery or conditions like endometriosis.
For people preparing for hormone therapy or gender-affirming surgery, medical egg freezing can be an important step. Freezing eggs beforehand may help safeguard the possibility of having genetically related children later. Find out more on our Trans and Non-Binary Egg Freezing page.
Medical egg freezing follows the same process as elective egg freezing, but timing is often more urgent. Our team provides expert guidance every step of the way to ensure your care is safe, supportive, and tailored to your needs. We also welcome NHS referrals for medical egg freezing.
Egg freezing allows you to preserve your fertility before it begins to decline, giving you greater peace of mind about your future.
Whether it’s your career, relationships or life circumstances, freezing your eggs gives you more flexibility and control over when to start a family.
If you’re concerned about declining fertility or a family history of early menopause, egg freezing can provide reassurance that you’ve preserved an additional option.
If you’re considering hormone therapy or gender-affirming surgery, egg freezing gives you the opportunity to preserve your fertility before starting treatment.
The vitrification technique we use is tried-and-tested, with success rates now comparable to using fresh eggs.
We offer the UK’s first money-back egg freezing programme, plus 0% interest financing, so you can take control of your fertility without added financial stress.
Egg freezing is a safe and effective way to preserve your fertility, giving you more control over your family-building options. Here’s what to expect at each stage of the journey, from your initial assessment to future use.
Important: Egg freezing does not reduce your natural fertility. It simply preserves eggs that would otherwise be lost that month, giving you more options for the future.
Your journey begins with a straightforward Fertility Health Assessment, designed to give you a clear understanding of your fertility. This usually includes a pelvic ultrasound scan and blood tests, including an Anti-Müllerian Hormone (AMH) test, to help assess your ovarian reserve and other routine markers.
You’ll meet with a specialist to review and explain your results, discuss your goals, and answer any questions you may have. This is your space to explore your options and feel informed, supported and confident about your next steps.
If you decide to proceed, we’ll arrange the necessary pre-treatment screening tests and a nurse consultation. Your nurse will guide you through your treatment cycle, teach you how to administer medications and explain what to expect as you begin treatment. Consent forms are completed as part of this preparation.
Medication gently encourages multiple eggs to mature in a single cycle, aiming to preserve a healthy number of eggs.
A short procedure under light sedation allows our skilled doctors to collect your eggs safely and comfortably. Most patients are back to normal activities the next day.
Your eggs are rapidly frozen at –196°C using the latest vitrification techniques, preserving their quality for future use.
Your eggs can be safely stored for up to 55 years under UK law, so you can plan your future fertility around your life.
When you’re ready, your eggs can be thawed, fertilised via ICSI and resulting embryos transferred to the uterus to enhance your chance of starting a family.
Egg Freezing Success in Numbers
Since 2008, we have supported thousands of patients through their egg freezing journey. Between 2008–2025:
To use your frozen eggs, your eggs are thawed and fertilised using ICSI. The process is the same as a usual ICSI cycle but with the additional step of thawing eggs prior to treatment.
Our research shows that success rates from frozen-thawed eggs are equivalent to those of fresh eggs in IVF treatment.
| 2020 - 2025 Outcomes | |
|---|---|
| Own egg thaw cycles | 550 |
| Eggs thawed for treatment | 5,700+ |

Nearest clinics
Egg freezing on the NHS is usually only available for medical reasons, such as illness or treatment that could affect fertility (like chemotherapy). If your reason is elective, treatment will typically be private. Your doctor or local NHS team can advise on eligibility.
Many people with PCOS can freeze their eggs successfully. Every situation is unique, so your specialist will discuss your individual circumstances and how they might affect your treatment plan and outcomes.
Yes, if you move or decide to use another clinic, our team can arrange safe transport of your eggs within the UK or internationally, keeping them secure and protected. Please note that there may be an additional cost to arrange this.
In the UK, your eggs can be safely stored for up to 55 years. You’ll be asked to renew your consent every 10 years if you wish to continue storage.
Egg freezing is generally very safe. The main possible complication is ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), which happens in about 1 in 100 people undergoing stimulation. We monitor you closely throughout your treatment to minimise risk and support you every step of the way.
Hormone stimulation recruits only a small number of eggs from your ovaries each month, leaving plenty behind. Your ovarian reserve isn’t affected and future cycles continue as normal.
Not in every case, often the implant or Mirena coil can stay in place, but your specialist will advise if any changes are needed before treatment. Your specialist will guide you so your treatment starts safely and smoothly.
Yes, it’s possible to have cycles one after the other. Many people take a month’s break between cycles, but back-to-back cycles can also be suitable depending on your body’s response and your fertility goals. Your doctor will advise what’s best for you.
